Belgian designer Anne Kurris stops her label for children

One of my all-time heroes, Paul Rand, once said:
‘Design is so simple, that’s why it’s so complicated’. 

The saying very much applies to my career. And I say this now with more conviction than ever as I look back at 20 years of passion, joy and tremendous amounts of creativity.

But the time has come for me to close a chapter by letting go of the children’s label I so lovingly nurtured for 2 decades.

20 years of ANNE KURRIS created an entire collection of memories, people and emotions. A lot of good times were shared not only by my own team, but our designs also made a undeniable impact on children’s fashion throughout the world. 

When you’re as fortunate as I am to have accomplished international success in an area that has always been so precious to you, you cannot help but feel good about the way things went. I can look back at something that makes me very proud,and that makes it easier for me to move on. 

I will continue to teach at Sint-Lucas in Antwerp and the Antwerp Fashion Academy not only because I love teaching, but also because being around young and upcoming designers and artists is a great way for me to pass on my knowledge and expertise. 

There is nothing complicated about saying goodbye once you understand how it’s simply about vacating space for something new.I am so grateful to all the people who helped me along the way. My passion was shared by wonderful people who believed in bringing a smile to children’s faces as much as I do. That’s how we kept 20 years of designing bright and colourful. 

I am happy to look back at a delightfully beautiful ride. After 20 years of designing ANNE KURRIS, I have reached the end. And that is -quite simply- how it is.
